  1. no reported probs with maggots in sunny Liverpool
  2. Init just mate! With your bait and petrol on top of that youre talking £15ish. Still I guess its worth it if you can be almost sure your going to have a decent days fishing...I think
  3. Im a member of Warrington. I toyed with the idea of joining Lymm, they have a much bigger selection of waters but when i put it into persepctive they are twice as expensive than Warrington and by comparison Warrington still have a shed load of quality fisheries. I guess it comes down to personal preference. Once I find a venue i like id rather get to know it properly as opposed to jumping around from venue to venue each week. For me Lymm had litterally too much choice (if thats possible!) and like paul i also heard rumours from my local tackle shop of tossers on some of their waters. But hey you get them everywhere!
  4. how much is a ticket at Brookside Casey?
  5. Never even heard of them, what are they lads?
  6. You might also want to try the Worthenbury Brook which Warrington AA also control. It contains chub, dace, perch and trout. Should be everything you need really. Let us know how you get on at the Gowy, Ill be giving it a crack at the start of the season
  7. Awful. Went to a usually fantastic little lake near Knutsford, was set up and fishing by 7am. Doing everything right, had my mojo goin but alas the fish just werent interested. Too busy cruising about on the top and taking the p*ss out of muggins ere. Out of 8 other anglers on the lake just one fish was pulled out in the 8 hours i was there. Nevermind
  8. Got the day off but im think im going to give the river a miss and hit one of my clubs lakes instead

    Pike gags

Are these banned? I thought they were but I saw a tackle shop selling them at the Tacklemania today.
  10. I think in winter the delicate and presice presentation that the pole could give you may mean the difference between a blank or a red letter day. Personally id have done the same as you fella, sod the pole
  11. I can't judge anyone here as ill be honest, all my size 14+ hooks are to nylon and to be fair this is just out of pure laziness!! Im a young fellow, my eye sight is spot on (Saturday nights not included!), pretty nibble fingers as im a guitarist, so there should be no reason why I shouldnt tie my own. Occasionally I do...but with a hooktyer, and even then they have a failure rate of about 30% (I just cant master the technique!) But as Rudd mentioned, in a session I may go through 3 or 4 hooks. This works out around £1, money well spent...when I can get the dam loops un-knotted!
  12. managed an hour on the Bridgewater Canal this afternoon. I had two follows close in from a small jack pike who kept teasing me. nothing else showing. Surprisingly warm today though...
  13. It was in AM a couple of weeks ago. He had 4 4lb+ stripeys in one sesh. Not a bad feat
  14. Incidentaly did you see that haul of 4lb perch that Trevor Prichard from 'Day Ticket' had? Always thought he was a bit of a numpty to be honest but fair play to him on that one!
  15. Simple question really. What do you use for your average session, braid or mono? [ 04. March 2005, 12:14 PM: Message edited by: sluk ]
  16. Not fished it myself Chris, I intend to later on in the year though. Looks a lovely little river but the banks have virtually no cover at all. This thread might help: .warrington-anglers.org.uk/forum...sp?TOPIC_ID=734
  17. Saw one of John Wilsons programmes filmed at the Fraser the other day. It looked absolutely stunning! How much are you roughly talking to get over there for a week?
  18. A friend of mine used to flavour a slice of bread and leave that in with the maggots overnight. He reckoned that the maggots would eat the flavoured bread and in turn they would be flavoured too. Might be worth a shot ???
  19. Looks pretty damn sexy to me! [ 24. February 2005, 09:56 PM: Message edited by: sluk ]
  20. It's one of the tackle roadshows Jonah, I remember seeing it in one of the angling mags, just cant remember the name. I'll keep an eye out though. Definately at the racecourse. Is Kingsway near Bowlers?
  21. Is this the thing at Haydock jonah?
  22. Blanked today on plugs, soft bodied lures and deadbaiting with joey mackerel - maybe im doing something wrong
  23. Hi Newt, any idea what the shipping charges are like to the UK from the BassPro site?
  24. Saw an episode of Total Fishing on H & L the other day. Matt Hayes used a two hook, bolt rig style feeder rig to catch big roach. Must be legal I would have thought... ??
