  1. They both serve the same purpose, my Daiwa 7ht came with a selection of different sized plastic brakes whereas my Sportsmags and mag elites both came supplied with fibre brakes. The only possible difference i could think of may be that the plastic brakes are less prone to absorb the oil one uses to lubricate the spindle/spool bearings which negates their effectiveness. Ultimately its all down to the manufacturers preference.
  2. There are supplied with the reel two fibre brake blocks which are activated via centrifugal force when you execute a cast. If you have bought the reel brand new you'll probably find that these brakes are'nt fitted. To find out if they are fitted undo the 3 knurled securing screws on the handle side of reel and remove, you should see 2 "spikes" running at 6 and 12 oclock on the spool itself, this is where the blocks should be.
  3. Maximo, http://www.fishingwaders.co.uk/index.htm Hope this link is of some interest. Best regards, Denzle
  4. Its like the Land of the Giants in here.I feel like a midget at 6'4" and a tad under 26stone with a 62" chest measurement. Have to get my work overalls custom made. Trying to find waterproofs in 5/6xl is a total disaster. In all fairness my local fishing tackle guy phoned around all the major dealers trying to get me a floatation suit with these dimensions and he ordered in a 3xl (SAS Sundridge) only to find when trying it on i found there was a 12" gap across the chest where the zip should meet. If there are any large or odd shaped guys like me out there who need chest/thigh waders i came across a website that makes them to order, if anyone is interested i'll post the addy on request.
  5. I must confess I'm a bit of a Greys man meself, I own 2 x Greys Mercurys and the Apollo MKii 14' aswell as a Greyflex 10' fly rod. All fantastic quality and i would recommend them to anyone. The Apollo came with an 18" reducer and a custom made rod bag plus the lifetime warranty which incidentally costs £30 per section to replace (this i'm assured is for handling charges)
