  1. Can only blame the angling media ? Partly....but not wholly, perhaps. 'Our Heroes' USA UK!!! Our Gear USA UK!!! Our Anglers USA UK!!!!!!
  2. I see that 'Harry Potter's' paw prints are all over it.....as per usual! His ilk pose more of a threat to angling than overfishing ever did.
  3. 'Killer Jellyfish' today, petrol bombs and civil unrest tomorrow.....
  4. Being generalistic, openness and honesty comes at a price, Reg. A price that has soon proven to be far too great for the majority of RSA reps. I know only too well that Stuart is not back with the AT. Why is that, and why did he go in the first place?
  5. Who exactly will be knocking on the door, Deene'O? I am not exactly sure who has filled your head with these fanciful ideas of 'American Dreams', 200 mile limits, and escaping the clutches of the corrupt CFP..... but I have a fair idea. Maybe you would like to extract them from the parallel universe they live in, and get them both on here? Saying that, if I am correct in my assumptions, that is a very unlikely prospect. Their usual style is to prime their foot-soldiers by drip feeding all the usual rubbish, and get them to do the dirty work for them. On the subject of 'free licences' (another one of their tired arguments), the fleet wasn't exactly encouraged to go fishing for UK PLC with no financial cost / risk to themselves. To be fair, they had to stump up some quite considerable sums for boats, equipment, and of course, all of the overheads they carry. Many remortgaged homes, or took on big bank loans. This is complete contrast to the civil servants (parasites) that now seek to put them back out of business, after encouraging them to start trading in the first place, and all with the comfort of their guaranteed incomes, gold plated pensions, early retirements, flexi time etc. etc. etc. paid for by us! I am not defending the commercial fishing industry (and I am not a "commercial sympathiser"). On occasion, I have been as p1ssed at them as you, but unlike the half arsed arguments of 'angling's finest', I like to take both sides of the story into account. Should this country get the result that is required on May 6th, I will look forward to seeing the axe swinging around so that Gordon's non-jobbers can get back to flipping burgers.
  6. And for the sake of clarity, seeing as Reg has posted the news on an AT related thread, Stuart is not back in the AT, and the Coordination Group is not being run by the AT.
  7. No UK Government could ever be trusted with a sea angling licence. End of. They know that the UK population are mugs and will suffer having the p1ss taken out of them, so take the p1ss they will.
  8. But Elton's a married man, Dave....
  9. You are absolutely right, Ron. Unfortunately, until such time as real anglers get off of their backsides and go toe to toe with the 'committee men', little is likely to change.
  10. As Mr Farrage would say, 'be careful what you wish for'!!! I have a feeling that there would be a very nasty sting in the tail.
  11. Hi Steve My suspicions are that you are not far off of the mark, but hope that I will be proven wrong. Reasons for asking....I always like to know who is sitting around the table, especially the ones who say exactly what they see, regardless of the sector they represent. I don't do rhetoric, spiel, and propaganda. Other than that, I'm due to be attending the LSG for Essex/Thames/N. Kent on the 5th (on behalf of RSAs), so any general info ahead of the meeting would be useful. I'll keep my eye out. Cheers Wayne
  12. Hi Steve Are you going to be attending the Solent/Isle of Wight/Hampshire LSG meeting on the 29th?
  13. Hi, what is your name? Cyril And what do you do in your spare time, Cyril? Well, I am slightly embarrassed to say. Go on, tell us. OK, I like to go fishing.....an (howls of laughter), that's a bit sad isn't it? I was going to say that when I'm not fishing I also enjoy cage-fighting!!!
  14. 'The Good Old Days' .........are here again! Just think, you should be 80+ by now, Barry.
  15. Interesting that you do not respond to my questions / comments, Reg. Therefore, please refrain from bringing my name up within your posts in future.
  16. Hi Reg Unfortunately, I am prevented from entering the debate over much of what you have been saying, so I will have to restrict my comments / questions to just a few lines. Could you be clearer? Regional Sub Group, Local Sub Group? Names? I am glad to see that someone has addressed the inevitability of future review, but you appear to believe that this is an entirely good thing. What if a tin pot study, during the first phase, is engineered to demonstrate that further restrictions upon RSA are required in order to further protect a site. We are at the top of a very slippery slope, Reg, and just like the yanks, people are not looking far enough into the future. Pay packets and pensions will need to be justified long, long, after 2012! A team of scientists and administrators telling the Minister that everything is hunky-dory will likely be out of a cushy job by the end of the following month. It just doesn't happen. In other words, absolutely dreadful for anyone who owns / regularly fishes from a boat, and of nil importance for those that fish from the shore.......or don't fish at all. It's very apparent how this unsanctioned concession of 'no anchoring' has snowballed into the number one threat to boat angling today! Love to say more, Reg.....but, well, you know the rest I am quite sure.
  17. You working today, Steve? Reckon if I hitched the boat up now, we could be out there and have the anchor down for first light!
  18. My brother Russ holding the first fish of the day. Yours truly clutching a fine 12lb'er using my trademark two finger pose. Russ strikes back by catching its twin. Elton leads the rearguard action. Barry Luxton sneaks a fish out from the port side. A good one at 14 3/4lb. Wurzel shows us how the pros do it. We caught him shoveling squid down it's gullet in an effort to beat Barry's 14 3/4lb benchmark. Brother Russ kept a steady flow of fish coming over the port side gunnel. One of the many instances of synchronised codding going on. Best being three rods bent at the same time, an another left banging away awaiting attention. The magic levitating cod. Hang on, Barry's in trouble. When a 'big' fish took off downtide, he was left calling for someone to cut the anchor free and go after it. Elton gets ready to net the 'leviathan' that Barry assured us was coming. Despite repeated warnings concerning the validity of Barry's claims.....the Kent supremo paid no heed. The revelation of a side hooked cod kept him quiet for ten minutes or so. Despite the very best practices in fish welfare being adhered to (barbless circle hooks, wet unhooking mat and antiseptic spray) it did nothing to save this one. We cried, said a prayer, and laid him to rest in a fish box. Barry starts talking again. Everyone's a winner!
  19. Another day fishing the 'ravaged' North Sea. Having just completed some culinary reminiscing, in the form of a fine cod supper prepared by my girlfriend, it's seems that it is time to present the AnglersNet study into the scale of 'widespread decimation'. Give me ten....... PS. This study did not cost the taxpayer a bean.
