  1. well we got out in the end today tuesday and we fished a mark off of herne bay called the east last we had live sand eels bloody 40 pence each lol and harbour rag and some mackeral. after 25 mins i hooked a roker about 61b then my mate had 1 about 5ib then another mate caught a mackeral on harbour rag , so we quickly got the feathers out but nothing , soon after that we had 2 very small rokers which went back. and then i hooked a 9ib roker ,then a mate had a dogfish so not a bad day really.
  2. ok stoaty cheers i know the roker are about had 7 last week off of minis bay will let you know how i get on cheers
  3. plus are the bruce and plough anchors ok to be recovered by the bouy system ie outboard power to pull up thats the way i use, if so can you attatch a system like the fishermans anchor ie if it gets caught up the string will break so its pulled from the other end of anchor cheers
  4. ok great thanks for the advice my boat is the new predator 16, what weight of anchor would you advise i thought about the 7kg one should be ok the ground around herne bay is mostly sand and small areas of rocky ground so it looks like i will have to sell my fishermans anchor and go for a bruce or plough anchor cheers for the advice
  5. well i heard they had the big bass festival off of herne bay weekend just gone biggest i heard caught was a 10ib bass there was a £1000 put up by icom if anyone could smash the bass record which was caught off of herne bay but i think thats preety safe now , what with the netting and trawlers fishing aint what it used to be and to beat the bass record of almost 20ib, would be like winning the lottery lol
  6. yes not too bad it will last you ages so its worth putting the best stuff in that dealers recomend after all look after your engine and it will look after you good luck
  7. didnt get out today but am going tommorow will post out results if any lol
  8. personly like skippy said dont run the engine till you have oil in it . and i would always use quicksilver 2 stroke recomended by most leading outboard dealers. good luck and welcome to boat fishing.
  9. ok great that helps out alot i think my fishermans anchor will be ok. i will get some more chain, the boat i have is the new predator out a great all rounder and is just 16ft so with my 3 and a mtrs of chain i think i will get some more chain thanks for your help everyone .
  10. great thnaks will look about for some chain cheers for that
  11. hi i have had the same anchor for 3 years the typical fishermans type. the last 3/4 times i have been fishing, i have had trouble with it not holding. so i was wondering what type of anchors are the best and what lenghths of chain some of you use with yours.personly i think the anchor is ok its the ammount of chain needed to lay the anchor down. i have plenty of rope out, and currently have about 3 mtrs of chain. i was told you need the lenghth of your boat plus half again but i thought this would be too much any suggestions welcome thanks.
  12. i am going to give it a bash out in the boat tommorow monday. off of herne bay kent. supposed to be alot of bass showing so will let you all know how i get on

  15. hi i am looking for a boat boarding ladder for my new boat. i have tried the tube hook over type very flimsy as we are not light weights. had one made out of stainless but it started marking the boat i have included pictures of it i think i need one that is fixed on the back of the boat but it will need high rails as to pull yourself up once at the top after all we all get old in the end. the boat has a step built on the back but is a bit hopeless when you need to get in the boat whilst on the trailer. as you, or should i say we cant get our leg up that high lol. the other trouble with having one on the back is lack of room to get in the boat . as the engine dosen't give much room either side to climb over the transom and drain well. so if anyone knows where i might be able to get one made or to buy please let me know thanks guys. ps had a go at loading picture but couldnt work out how to do it anyone help?
  16. i got a blank day 2 weeks ago by boat in the dover area while fishing for mackeral. we even done 12 drifts nr the admiralty and only saw 8 mackeral come up the wall but we never had a singlr=e fish. a couple of my friends tried the admiralty at dover on tuesday just gone and they had 1 mackeral between them all we can do is sit and hope they will eventually arive before its too late !!

  22. well toerag i have managed for the last 30 years and i know how to get in on the compass in my area so thats enough for me . we cant all be clever like you, and as i have always said you never stop learning i was asking for help not insults!!!!
  23. yes it does thanks very much as for asking people with boats round my area no one seems to have the time of day and after a coment from someone on here that i shouldn't be near a boat i dont think i will be posting anymore help ideas i have had boats for years and usually only launch off my home town which i know by compass if i ever get stuck in fog to come back at 180 degrees so it looks like i might stay in my area and just fish the marks i know of but maybe one day i will go out with someone who could give me a little guide on it then i could go furthur a field thanks for the help.
  24. looks very expensive and still looks complicated i think i will have to stick to bouy marks like i have done for many years thanks for all the info lads tight lines
