  1. Solunds like a good trip. Always fancied going back to IOM with the fishing gear. Shiteys. Why do they call them that? down here they are a clean water fish, mainly surf beaches. Out of interest what kind of pots were you using to get the lobsters.

I think that would look nice in Athena print style. Very classy.
  3. Not sure what the updated model is, It's in the 7 series. Have a look at the Johnson Outdoors site it might tell you.
  4. I got the Matrix 17, it's like a TV on the yak, I'm afraid to turn it on inshore incase the shore anglers are sneeking a look at the ground I'm on . Not sure where you'll get one now as they seem to have been superseeded.
  5. I have. I use it as a decoy in case someone tries to pinch my other yaks's. It's kind of a sacrificial lamb
  6. Do you mean tight all over as in the whole garment? if so you need a bigger cag. The necks are usually designed to be trimmed as are the cuffs. I have trimmed my paddle pants on the ankle's, my storm cag on the neck and cuffs and I have also trimmed my dry suit neck, it's normal to do this as long as the garment is designed for it. EDIT: Taken from up and under store. "The Nookie Extreme Cag is one of the better cags on the market. Great attention to detail makes it one of the best-suited cags to British paddling. The full dry cag has latex seals on the neck and wrists with a neoprene outer cuff for protection and there is a double waist tube with Little Braces inside to hold the deck up. For added durability they have made the outside of the arms and cuffs with a tough cordura. There is even a ring of cordura between the neck seal and the rest of the cag. Bombproof! The first thing that you notice when you put this cag on is how comfortable it is and that the articulated arms make a world of difference. After many trips on the local rivers and surf the cag has kept me dry, no matter how many times waves break on your head or you roll back up. You may need to trim the latex seal down to size, but remember that latex will stretch and soften slightly so be careful not to cut too much off."

Stunning John. Any chance of seing the video?
  8. Have you thought of trimming the neck?
  9. No problem with waking up old threads it's just that this one ended on a sour note and was brought back up on a less than favourable one. Anyway give us a full account of what happened to you with the coastguard in a seperate thread as that would be benificial to everyone.
  10. Me, but there is no way I'm ever gonna give you the kiss of life Why has this thread been dragged up?
  11. I would suggest using the gate
  12. I think that sums it up nicely.
  13. Nicer when it's free :drunk:
  14. Talk about foot in mouth Stop digging Dave. To be fair if I was offered a free kayak then I would take it and commit to write a few words and I would imagine that most people would jump at the chance. If you recieve free goods to test then state it openly from the start and there should be no problems.

    What Paddle

He kicks a#~e with it on most outings though, he cant half keep up a good pace
  16. After fishing from both the Elite 4.5 and the Trident in the same day I must admit to favouring the Trident. I have paddled a p15 and it is a lovely yak and very responsive but there is no advantage for fishing situations over the Trident in my opinion.
  17. Glad it turned out ok. I carry my divers knife on my pfd also. Agree with the quick release system, have it on a bouy ready to ditch at a seconds notice and retrieve later.
  18. Good idea, it's usually the simple ideas like that are the best.
  19. You could try putting the trolley at the front of the kayak and tow it backwards. It's worth a try.

I love nautical navigation there's so much room and no one way streets and roundabout's. When on tarmac I just drive and eventually get there As for using the laptop, apparantly you are not allowed to smoke whilst driving now so I dont think I would get away with that. No chance of that M8, I dont do the wing thing

    Charts

As with most software you get what you pay for. I use Nav Gold and Nauticpath. The NP is good but the Nav Gold has more info and more detail, although it is a bit slower than NP on the chart page.

I use the I Finder H2Oc with a Navionics Gold and a Nautic path card. Both are good cards. The unit is fully waterproof and the colour is much easier to view the detail. A bit more expensive but well worth it as a one of purchase that should last you many years. Click here to go to JK Max Navigation site. Call and ask for Steve and he will give you some advice on what to get for your money.
