  1. £60 seems a lot for 6 months of piking , anyone know if it justifies the price ?? not far from here in bedford so petrol wont cost much !!
  2. whilst looking at the page about the new rod licences i saw a mitchell baitrunner for sale on e-bay mitchells were always my fave reels as a youngster so does anyone use one and if so is the quality as good as it was and do they compare favourably with shimano baitrunners ??
  3. i was pike fishing the gt ouse last sunday , tho the current was stronger than normal the problem was the cut weeds coming downstream . if i was to fish beachcaster style with the rod tips up and the minimum of line in the water would i have to rely on the rod tips for bite indication or is it feasable that the front delkim and rear drop off would still work ? i would be using rests or rod pod , not tripod rests
  4. i have been given some small pouting to try as deadbait does anyone have any experience of using these or whiting as dead bait for pike ? if so with what result ?
  5. i am due on my hols to la pineda ,( between Cambrils and Salou ) Costa Dorada very soon i am aware that licences / permits are required to fish on the River Ebro but do i need one to fish in the sea ? does anyone have experience of sea fishing in the area ? any advice gratefully received
  6. i was in malta last year , loads of small and medium sized fish off the rocky beaches and outcrops , ppl fishing in harbours as well . i enquired about small boats and was advised to try the fishing villages south of valletta . good luck
  7. didnt have bait runner on , bale arm open as usual
  8. ive had at least one occasion where the pike had taken the dead bait but the only sign i had was the rod tip bouncing , it neither registered on the front bite indicator nor the drop back , i did check the front was working and the tension of the line clip on the drop back , both fine . i also found that when i have had a straight bite with the bale arm open the line pulls out of the drop back but does not register on the front indicator as there is no longer sufficient tension on the line , im considering using the baitrunner set as free as possible to counteract this . also going back to my modified fox electronic drop backs , surely cant miss a bite now !!
  9. hi anderoo i think i'll let someone else go in my place if theres a reserve list i broke my leg b4 xmas and am still in plaster . i dont know how fit im going to be or if i can even drive come the 24th feb so would rather let some one else fish. ill be 1st down on the list if theres another one tho , good luck all

  12. mine would be catching an 8lb zander from the great Ouse at Bedford town centre where ppl said id never get one , on a home made lure
  13. i recently bought a lead weight mould 3 - 4 0z range what is the current law regarding weights made from lead in rivers and lakes , is it above a certain weight ?
