  1. The attached link is for an Essex boat skipper called Dave Weaving. I have not been on this boat but follow the guy's weekly updates every Monday. I am currently enquiring with Dave regarding a trip mid October. www.essexcharterfishing.co.uk/ Has anybody reading this been out with Dave in the past?

  3. Plane departs from Gatwick Sat 18th March & staying 10mins from Bridgetown South West coast. Is the fishing worth the agro from the missus?
  4. I witnessed a good friend of mine cast a freshwater float onto a lily pad which resulted in the trailing hook length lassoing a dragon fly on a nearby lily pad. The dragonfly then took off taking his float, weight, hook & maggot. After not too big a fight he managed to land & release it. Now I come to think about it the same guy caught a speed boat which came rather too close for comfort whilst fishing Felixstowe Ferry. The rod shot off the rest at a far rate of knots.
  5. Where is Norfolk? Does the county have a football team? Have they ever won anything?
  6. My best cod was not my biggest ever cod. I used to enjoy taking an old carp rod with me for the brief period of slack water at high tide. This particular night at Orford Island, Suffolk I chucked out my 2oz weight as far as I could & off to the left & watched the slowly outgoing tide take my weight & line steadily but obviously to the right. Imagine my suprise when my line suddenly took an about turn & headed back from whence it came. A gentle strike & very responsive action on my 2 & 1/4 test curve carp rod was followed by a 3lb cod on the beach. Magic. Most embarrasing one was while boat fishing in the estuary at Felixstowe. My 1st cast resulted in lost end tackle & line. 6 hours later & after a few codling it was lines in & time to leave. As I wound in my gear I noticed it getting heavier. No thump of a fish but a dead weight. I startled to haul yellow line that I recognised as the line I'd lost 6 hours earlier. On the end of the lie my end tackle & on the end of my hook a very dead 5lb codling. Unfortunately this was spotted by the skipper who proceeded to call me a "very lucky person" (or something similar !!!)
  7. A friend & I were members of the Orforness Angling Club for 5 years running. We paid for a key to barrier & drove along the Orford spit. We fished all along the stretch from the 1st radar mast to the 'car park' & next gate. We did not find one place along there better than the rest. Are there any anglers out there that held/still hold keys to the gate who can share their knowledge of this stretch?
