  10. I was just reminded of a position I took many years ago. I thought the attempt to make plastic fishing line was foolish. I thought a single strand of plastic could never replace the wonderful fabric lines following WWII. War time technology had advanced nylon, silk and even cotton blends to the point fishing line just couldn't get any better - PERIOD. Who the He!! were those idiots at E I Dupont? Trying to make 100 yard single strand plastic wire for fishing was in a word - crazy. Even worse, they wanted us to BUY the stuff. By comparison with today's mono it was indeed awful stuff. But if everyone had done as I did, stay with the tried and true lines of the day where would we be today. I remained blind to the potential. The conversation among commercial fishermen on the river was furious. No internet or even cell phones in those days. No middle ground on this one. No traditional "angler" would be caught dead using mono. I listened to my mentors not my peers. We had our minds made up. No sense presenting the facts or even the possibility of factual advances. Dupont was just infiltrated with jerks who knew NOTHING about angling. Many had never even been fishing for crist sakes. I for one didn't even care to hear their story. Was I wrong? Well I can swallow having been wrong a lot easier at 60+ than at 20+. And now, in 2002, who would ever consider mono with all the great new lines available. Gulp, I use Trielene In Shore by choice because I am old fashioned and like the stretch. Phone

  16. Money talks the world around. £20 million is always more productive than righteous conduct. Phone:D Edit: If anything, and I had a vote, I would lean toward raising the fees. [ 13 March 2002, 09:38 PM: Message edited by: phonebush ]

  18. Cranfield, I am not sure either. ScarrrrY. I have owned beagles and love them as pets. Also, in the traditional paintings of the subject you always see beagles or hounds. I wonder what I saw that day. Dress was formal. Dogs tended from the ground on leashes. Do you hunt anything from horseback requiring such animals?? Phoen
