At it on here aswell margins, i can see why a lot of carp anglers are turning to barbel they have probably been bivvied up next to you for a weekend. atb malc

I think anglers of all different ability post on this site and most would be put off by the likes of "THE MARGIN" he would be best posting with like minded anglers on the carp site,people who sit and wait for something to happen rather than doing something to make it happen. atb malc

The Margins i have just been reading some of your recent contributions on this site and all you seem to do is diagree with almost everything that is said you must be quite a sad person to be so self opinionated.As to your remark about pasties in over stocked puddles i have done that and woke up and moved on,i keep an open mind about all aspects of angling and this has helped me in my ralative success as a specimen angler,i urge you to do the same a then you may get more respect when posting in the future. atb malc

If a carp was aware as you say of a hook before sucking it in its not going suck it in to taste it is it. Would not the bait mask the taste if the hook. Personaly i just think some people make things difficult for themselves. atb malc

Sorry the hook should be in the fishes mouth before he has had a chance to taste it and hooks aren't made of tin.If you are that worried buy some hook skins. atb malc

I fish for barbel with no less than 12lb bs main line with a hooklink of 10lb in fluro, if you have any weaknesses in your set up a barbel will find it. atb malc

Always bring maggots dead if you can, many a big fish has been caught this time of year on them its just some anglers don't like admitting to it for obvious reasons. atb malc

In summer i dont think it matters as i am sure carp eat that greedily they don't get a chance to taste anything,in winter i think taste,smell the way it looks are more important as its a question of "is it worth it or not" or "am i hungry or not".Dropping a bait on a fish's nose is also a big help. atb malc

Can't see the point in adding a savoury addative to a sweet base mix. atb malc

Dave,yes frost & flood is a base mix the main additive in the base mix is maple so adding an extra bit of something sweet would not harm the overall mix. Vinilla or Chocolate essence would be good. atb malc

There is no way a barbel will push a salmon off its natural lie unless its massssiveee. atb malc

One of the biggest egg eaters is the salmon "cannibals yes and Trout" so why blame the barbs for every little bit of distruction that is caused sorry totally out of order. atb malc

Sorry can't believe that any sort of angler throws a barbel into the hedge bottoms,salmon angler or other wise,if barbel anglers did the same thing there would be an up roar,i think all these fish can live in harmony it has been proved on rivers like the Wye where huge barbel can be found on salmon swims. atb malc
