A few reasons are you can hide a bigger hook in the meat and being as it is soft fish can pull it off a hair.

Not good really, the Yare is very low almost stopped flowing due to the dry spell so all the fish will be shoaled up in deeper swims.

As myself and Seph are Barbel anglers we class Chub as nuicence fish mainly because they will take almost every bait a Barbel will, hope that has answered your question.
