  1. I tend to use half a small sandeel giving it a few whips of bait elastic to keep it on. A 4/0 does the trick for me. dunno what a flyer is probably a spare baited trace so you can reel one in and clip on the other so as you have a bait in the water all the time and dont waste time baiting up. While one trace is in the water you bait up the other
  2. up here in scotland its ragworm tipped with sandeel or mackerel/herring sandeel combo. gl
  3. Ive been rewiring the nav lights, spot lights and the cuddy interior light...took me ages as i thought it would be **** easy...not for a hopeless electrical novice when in doubt ......phone yer cousin the sparky and watch him nearly soil himself laughing at your "hard work" hehe..........6 pack of lager and he fixed my spaghetti junction and for a sausage roll he wired up my new fishfinder.....pff he drives a hard bargain guy coming to look at one of my old outboards..he buys...i buy new one. Tempted to bite the bulletand sell a body part to buy new as good second hand outboards are hard to find Im sure ill gloat.....ahem ...inform of a new purchase
  4. how do you tell if the foam is waterlogged??...excuse my ignorance..do you just drill a hole ???
  5. im a relatively new poster Gave up fishing in the southwest scotland area (ayrshire/clyde) off the shore for any respectable sized fish. This is a prime example of an exhausted sea area. Only fish in my local area are flatfish, wrasse, dogfish grrr.. and the very rare red cod its very tough going fishing wise. Bought a boat to escape from the possibility of giving up fishing (excuse i gave the missus, she likes her peace and quiet when im away ) Found that i catch more from the shore than the boat as there are no wrecks around the area. But if it was the catching of fish that made me go fishing and not the fresh air and good company from friends i would have given up long ago and stuck to float fishing for mackerel from the local pier which btw has a huge population of mullet in the marina. This isnt a dig at trawlers btw fish is like any other resource in the world has been used and abused ...... trawler crew need to earn a living too and its probably their grandfathers who did the damage in ignorance not intentionally..... only wish they caught dogfish as the southwest is polluted with em. anyhooo...no political nonsense or bickering this is just a lighthearted thread

  9. lo Thanks for the replies, luckily the ferries have to slow down and reverse into the harbour so it slows them down big time ....although they open up when they are leaving the port hence the question. If and probably when i get caught in one i will be able to tackle it, cheers. RoN
  10. lo all by the way new to the forum A question to all you experienced boaters :- I live near a ferry terminal and have a 15ft boat which i use regularly, i have purposely avoided going out when ferries are expected do to the wash from the engines. The question is if caught in the situation where the wash is coming at me what should i do??? I presume from the limited info i have gathered to turn into the wave, is that the correct thing to do. Your help would be appreciated cheers RoN
