  1. Yes as to Red diesel in the farm tack.. I think they are allowed to travel 25ml from there farm..yes as to set aside..I was speaking to my sister who as 500+acres..and they was allotted £80 per acre...but you can grow a cash crop (quick) one on it..what that is I don't know??...but they still get all the subs as they did before from EU.....but a Fisherman be it RSA or commercial gets now't....look at it like you have a farm or fishing boat worth £2 million..it as to make money...otherwise sell up and put it in the bank??..then where would the industry go then....thought I would have have a say....but there will alway's be someone else wanting to do it..thanks Graham
  2. Have ago with anything,if the fish are there, you will catch on silver paper as one person said..when we fish off Southwold we use live sandeels on a 4ft trace and if the fish are there and once you are down you have a fish on...alot of the time when I get my first good bass I have alook in its gut and that will tell you what iis after...if its crabs ...you need to be on the bottom...I have had them on allsorts of colours....anything thats Blue/silver or bright...I think will catch....off on a wrecking trip to southwold tomorrow if the weather is with us...so we will see the forecast tonite...all the best and good luck
  3. What can I say...there's a lot of people on here that don't like to hear the truth..as to my photo link to the Chieftain site being moved to a 'it's not to do with fishing' non-fishing chat forum - can someone explain if catching fish isn't classed as fishing chat, then what is?
  4. Hello to all,can you tell me why my last post re..the Chieftian got moved??all Iwas saying is look at the photo's from the recent trips..there was alot of 20lbers...and how well the team on board looked to enjoy such fish..thanks Graham
  5. What can I say....the Boat as been out and caught again..the last 70hr trip was'the bee's...fish in the chiller and on deck..I think how this boat is fishing...it will need two deck men....as I look at it...this must be the best type/Cod fishing in the UK..you may laugh???but there's the food that this boat give's to you..the best..you can see photo's at..www.chieftiancharters.com
  6. John if the pier at Gorlestone is not fishing why not try Southwold..beach or Harbour, entrance to the river for some bass...went the other day with David who owns Prospector 3 Bassing and with 6 on the boat had about 4 each...all nice fish..biggest was 9+lbs...put lots back at 3 to 4lbs...live sandeel or 4 or 5 rag hooked in the head was the job of the day...my mate who as a boat at weybourne as had nowt of any size yet..the sea is flat at the mo..15.15..06/07/06...I would do a Harbour site as you get the flow...cheers Graham...ps as i said off to catch a 40lber????....why not try some plastic bait.
  7. Thanks for that Darlick..should be up on 07/07 for a 84hr job get back in at 06.00 so I don't excpect you to bring crabs at that time...it was only Mallette who suggested it...but I like Crabs...will see what he says on the day or we can phone on the sat phone while we are out...just got back from a Southwold Bass trip....6 on the boat..I came home with 2 nice fish and also my mate who had a 9+lber came home with 3...we fished for sandeels first for bait...let lots go to get bigger..there was lot's to 3 or 4lb that we let go...off to bed in a mo....feel knac..d...if the Whitby trip is on hope to see you sometime...take care Graham D.
  8. ...Yes Glenn, down here if the Cod are'nt willing to take the pirk, they say put one of them small frozen squid on the hook and away you go....they do catch..I like Ling to eat or make a pie etc..but we did'nt have any small fish to cut up and put on the hook...thought we may have had some Mackeral..so ideal for the Ling on the bottom of the pirk...not any of them either..I would love to catch a large Ling...so I think you have got to head North for them...hope all goe's well for the Festival...Graham D.
  9. Thanks to everyone for the comments about the fish...I caught it on a 500grm silver pirk with strings and 2 x 8/0 hooks..one hook had a bright pink 6" twintail and the other a 6" lumo twintail...both hooks were well set...mind you it had a mouth the size of a toilet seat....if you go on Chieftain site there.. is a photo of the sole which came out of it's gut..that was a nice fish...off to Southwold in the morning if the weather change???wrecking..back at Whitby following week on a 84hr...so we will see then..thanks to all Graham D.
  10. yes I see now...you had all sorts of names at one time...so it seems we are calming down abit now
  11. WALCOTT is a man...not had anything done to the lower parts.BIG COD(PAUL)...Sorry for the mix up.But when all was having ago at Chieftian last year we had to come in some way..as I said I lost my password to the forum,so I came in on my other half as walcott...I still cant get in on my codmaster password??..cheers GRAHAM
  12. Hello to all...yes Glen I do belive in catch and release...but would that cod have lived??..I had better takes for the jigger than that one...and yes it went round the boat for weighing, like it's a once in a lifetime fish...it had a mouth like a bucket top..BIG COD sorry for the sex change issue, but you must have read why I became Walcott(lost my password for CODMASTER-GRAHAM)..YES I would like a sex change into a woman as you can get away with murder...I went on that trip to catch a big one..there was only 3 drifts that I fished with multi hook rigs...all the rest was single jigger with short strings 8/0 hooks ...the big fish I caught using a jigger with 2 hook string 8/0 hooks with a red/lumo twintail on..on the morning when I got the fish,Michele said go catch a 32lb one as Charlie had his 30lber....the luck was with me...but give John B his due...he put the boat onto the fish/wreck..so my next job is go for a bigger one.....so why you all want to slag the CHIEFTAIN off... or JB/Michele I don't know??,..you can see all the photo's on Chieftains site...Thanks Graham
  13. Hello to all...its not Walcott..but CODMASTER-GRAHAM as my password didnt work...what is all this s..t going about this Cod and the amount of fish...the BIG COD weighed 33lb and 2oz...I have just got home from whitby at 17.40..and no.. I am not having BIG COD..may be later...who caught or saw this large beast from the sea???...I have just put it in the crypt(freezer).......when I have found a picture that I can enlarge etc,it will be posted..dont think so....CHIEFTAIN CHARTERS give you a CD with photo's of the trip...so once I have had alook you will all see the CODMASTER at work...it amaze me that people know what was caught before I got home....THANKS TO ALL GRAHAM DANIELS

  16. Walcott is still here looking,I think this is a lovely site to get info etc...when all the crap was going about the Chieftian I had to reply....I was Codmaster Graham but I lost the password and the one which I had sent did'nt work so I log on,as on my wife's email...sorry for all the mix up...living in Norfolk...I find all the update's from Glen K,Big Cod very good as we like to fish out of Whitby...I fish on the Chieftian a number of time's per year...we are off again shortly,to get some good fish and trip etc...I like the photo's from Big Cod's boat...went last week on Mistress 1 from Southwold,59mls out and we had some lovely cod...the water was not very clear,so it was a fish hard job...I will be bringing some shads this next trip and we will see what they do...what got me in the last forum was that you was calling yourself different names Glen..no problem now...I would like to know who Binatone is as he as some good answers to certain issues..thanks to all Graham
  17. THANK YOU,@WINTER@...I Will have alook at the Chieftian Chahrteris.....is this the boat or charter to do....I don't mind helping him...but it's his life he needs to fish...just spoke to someone at Chieftian Charters of Whitby ,is that who you mean.....chap called John.....spoke to a lady before, are they ok...for a trip...I have done birthday/extra trips form and they never turn out ok..the lady said all fish will be filleted...never heard that from a boat before....I think I will try a get a places for him on this ship....I will let you know and i would like any input for what he needs...I can buy this for his birthday..LOL lv for new year.
  18. Thank you and Happy new Year to you all....I want to buy my loved one a trip from Whitby...I have heard they are a number of Boats which do charters....he as been on the the long trips from the Humber Boats and liked.... the problem is that he lost the lower part of his leg in the Falklands ...so he needs something stable and accesible...any ideas as I keep look at the Fishing Mags....we stayed at Bagdale when we came up and noticed the large black and red boat at the quay I think...any help.

    Mussels

Yes we have eaten them..both local and the large Green lipped ones...they are excellent....far better for me than the COD etc....like u say never found any in there Gut.....I don't think the Cod is built to eat Mussels etc...when you see the Wrasse it's got the teeth to graze and the jaws to crush etc open...the Cod hunts for it's tea...fresher the better, who wants a smelly thing for your tea or anytime....we know the COD as the mouth to get it in and much more....so if you use mussel's I would call it look.....was fishing last week in Southwold...and the Dabs had whole sprats in there belly..getting fat to spawn I think....we targeted our fish..with small slices of sprat....I suppose if that's all they have ,they will have ago...good luck, but I have found it's better and in the long run...going on a Charter Boat...we have booked 10 trips in 2006 so far...one of the boats is bait (and lots of included)....may try Whitby sometime as reading thats where you are...target your species..they are there.WALCOTT
