  1. You can keep yer sheep to yerself
  2. I deffo plan to Just depends on the weather - its a long haul if you can't fish ! Rod leashes are a must for me as I chuck everything overboard, they work fine but sometimes get in the way of the reel when I'm winding the handle. Happy to show you how to screw them up :0) fingers X'd for weekend.
  3. One piccy of mine boated-soon to be un boated - ahem and some of Niftys including images taken from underwater video clip ( ain't worked out how to post video links yet ). http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g77/penry_photos/2.jpg http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g77/penr...niftyvids10.jpg http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g77/penr...TopeTrip229.jpg http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g77/penry_photos/4.jpg
  4. I had two over the 3 days fishing for tope, both around 10lb mark. I think Nifty might have had more. They are reasonable sport but not compared to the tope!
  5. Had a wonderful 4 days of fishing with Nifty, and were joined by Martin Hurst who is now a bonafide member of the Tope Club Bit of a story with my biggest to date. Reel screamed and I hooked into her. I let the anchor slip and went for a tow. Took me for about a mile I guess, past Nifty and Martin and I thought Nifty would follow for the piccies as it was clearly a big fish as smaller stuff I just sit to the anchor and release. About 40 mins later I get her to the boat and make a few calls on the moby to Nifty but they go to ansafone. I cant even see where they are ! ( turns out Martin needed help with one himself ). I decide she has to come aboard so I can snap her myself. This was a mistake. I hauled her up and sat her on my lap while I took some piccies but she thrashed about a bit and over we went, fish, boat, tackle and me. She was still hooked and rod was attached to yak with a leash. Upshot of that was she is pulling down on the boat while I am trying to right it. Had I got tangled up in my line I hate to think what might have happened Happily the result was I eventually got the boat the right way up, got in and lost only the tackle that was'nt bungeed in - thankfully just some line and a bait bin. NE way, I am a bit wiser and hopefully this will be of some use to others on here. Hope to see you on the 10th
  6. Life is not a rehersal - If you have a hankering to do something DO IT ! My philosophy. Which has cost me a divorce and about £180,000 but hey GWS prowler. phoo.
  7. it so happens... I jumped out almost as quick!
  8. The Mackerel are in - I caught a shed load in about 20 mins from the coast where Nifty has his caravan - dunno the name of it, and some lads in a dinghy said they caught some at Tywyn on Saturday. They were fishing about 400 yds in from us. But you can sure get through a few baits in a day if you use whole ones. 20 isn't too many!
  9. Got back home this AM - too tired to work out how to limit thr KB's on the piccies - they stay at 74 evev after I resize them - still Image shack might work .... Here goes.

  14. I have to admit I am feeling pretty smug - thanks for the congrats, but really I just dropped a bait and got lucky
  15. LOL, yeah....I am on a high I don't think I'll come down from for months. I am going to be INSUFFERABLE
  16. I don't think its been mentioned yet, but the guy who runs the charter boat for them said the big females are only around for the next 3 weeks or so. Might be an idea to go sooner rather than later if you fancy a big one. Good luck.
  17. It was a superb weekend, the company and the weather were excellent and so was the fishing. Tope are a lot like PIKE - save they are bigger and a lot stronger - they don't mind if the bait is less than fresh ( I caught on 2 day old mackeral that had gone soft and smelly ). They will hit a bait time and again if you pull it out of thier mouth on the strike. The one I caught yesterday cut through my line above the leader ( I had it too short ) but an hour later I boated the fish and removed the old trace with the bait still attached. I have learned so much this last 3 days and if I get half a chance I will be back this or next weekend to have another go for a BIG one.
  18. I think you can safely say 'That fish was landed...' Well, that was the 'catch' Here is the 'release...'
