  1. ive still been catching pout and whiting in my nets which i never get this time of year the mullet are about like normal. i heard from a gillnetter earlier this year from down the south coast that they had one of there best years ever for bass, dont know whats going on but there certainly has been some roker about this year in the blackwater more than other years
  2. it seems very late this year for bass ive tried all over the blackwater sinse beginning of april and had no luck for bass im startin to think they might not even turn up at all this year, my sounder is reading about the same temp in the sea as this time last year as well

    Stingray

Caught first sting ray in three years in the black water last week
  4. you have no worrys at all about netters goin after roker this year two boats have packed up that i know of the roker have just started comin in to the blackwater and its the best roker fishin for me in the river ever, ive also left my nets out over the big tides which i never do because of the weed but its worth it for the amount of fish around there is no other nets in the river this year none on the bench head either, there is no trawlers targetin roker either the most they land is a box or two a trip as a by catch so lookin good for roker this year
  5. its usually good in the blackwater for bass skate and few dabs wait for it to warm up lots more and head for the deep water on the north edge of the blackwater near the power station on small tides as they are just startin to make and you will quite often find the birds workin with small bass up to a couple of pound there the best lures to use are the hok eyes they tend to catch smaller fish though its good sport you will quite often get a bass on every hook.

yes it would make more sense for them to set quotas so they were workable but they dont do that and wont fishermen have had many talks with the ministry to try and sort a reasonable quota out but it looks like its just gettin worse the fish are out there you just cant catch them its impossible to break any rules these days onwards and its not "ignore the law when it suits us" as you just can not ignore the any rule now. The quota is to small for any small boat with crew to survive.
  7. bet he does with all that time he spends at sea

  10. --> QUOTE(Norm B @ Feb 3 2006, 06:01 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And because they're still set too high and being ignored anyway. i thought this forum was suppost to be about angling and new gear out etc all its been since ive read posts on here is anglers woryin about commercial boats its pathetic, some things i read are of interst and are right but then people just go to far, this is your lots hobby, some kind of hobby when all you do is wind each other up all the time you cant get much enjoyment over that surely. Also a lot of people need to learn and understand a lot more about the job before you start comin up with some comments ive read.

very bad. with the quota we are suppost to be on it will just about pay expenses and one mans wage, many boats have crew so like all you anglers would like to see this year onwards with the Reg of buyers and sellers comin in it could finish many businesses and like wurzel said, it doesnt end there with the fishermen it will hit many small fish buing companys to
