cheers me and two mates are going fri 31st of aug for the night we will prob most likely be goin of southwold if we catch any thing i will upload the pictures if i can work out how to lol

yeh we still fish commercialy but we are not a netter but likesome other commercials me and my mates who are not fishermen like to get together and go rod fishing it doesnt happen very often but we have always heard about catching soles on a rod so thought we would try it hopefully we will be goin in the next two weeks dont worry we will be armed wit a hand full of rods not a mile of nets lol but cheers everyone for the info.

Can any one help please my mate and i are going set out for a nights rod fishing mainly for soles soon somewhere between thorpness and southwold can any one suggest any ideal places to fish and when is the best time to go and best state of tide also do we need to be well out of the beach for the soles or close in we are going to use rag as bait. ps we have only ever fished for bass before on rods so if any one could give us any advice on what to do wit soles mostly appreciaited lol. they have sort of done that round here with bait diggers i think they say you cant commercially dig round here without a licence which is free any way. there is even a bloke that patrols the beach sometimes watching out for commercial bait diggers. so you now have some idea how rules and quotas annoy commercial fisherman, if anglers are not happy with the rules coming in with bait digging thats only your hobby not your living but with the commercials it changes there lives and you cant say that you have always been allowed to bait dig wih out rules etc because commercial fisheren until only about 10 years were given licenses and a while before that didnt even have worrys about quotas and any major rules.

as long as you have got plenty of other fish you can land much more than 40 stone of roker a day, for eg if you catch 400 stone of mixed fish you can land 100 stone of roker not that we are goin to catch 400 stone of mixed fish sorry meant to put 40 stone a week not day

i toally agree wit you there the minimum size for mullet should be put up but with the mesh sizes going up you wont see many of the small torpedo mullet bein caught anyway,

dunno what everyone is going on about that prawns are taking of all you have got to do is buy last weeks fishing news and see how well sophie louise is doing from north shields. We went prawing in north shields about 4 years ago and we all worked one net so no one hamered the prawns but we will find out what the prawning is like soon as we are working from shields again later this year.

will be supplying weekly but wont be every day of the week it would be best to collect at weekends and mid week, the price will be £20 per 100 hermits or 20p each. its a job to say how many we can supply but should be quite a lot.

would anyone from round essex be interested in buying hermit crabs of us for bait this year

i totaly agree with you there because a few years ago in the summer occasionaly i would walk along the beach with my girl friend boorin her talkin to the anglers as we passed them and trying to help them out wit better spots to give them more of a chance of catchin better fish. i would help out the odd angler that had a boat with some of my own fishing spots and show them where to fish to be of some help but then i come across this site and realised what anglers thought of us and the things they say, funny thing is im still helpin out anglers with places to fish now and look what you all give back there shouldnt be a conservation/politics forum on this site it should just be talk on fishing new rigs and gear etc leave the proper politics for the fisherman to worry about and talk about because thats who its affecting not anglers.

yes but what does it matter to fishyrob that this boat is fishing in this area, is he a fishery officer how does this affect him, it doesnt so why not leave the fisherman alone and if he gets caught it will probaly be from a propoer fisherys bloke not from someone like fishyrob who this fisherman is not causing any trouble to also whats the need to go and find out about the vessels licence details and if it has quota.

just got me lowrance sounder today it is a x52 i got not the x 51 all in wit vat it is 135.01 i got the price wrong the website i got it from was www.advancednetting.co.uk who are based near me in clacton, essex

that would be ideal for you then because mine is an open boat and i have left the sounder ouside on the console of every boat ive had all year round takin all weather conditions and have never had a problem with them

i live in mersea in colchester and if you would like i can give you a number for a good angling boat and help you out with some shore fishing also i can give you a number for a local pub down on the waterfront that does bed and breakfast

when are you hoping to come to essex to fish as i can give a couple of numbers for bed and breakfast and a angling boat which works out of mersea you wont get more of an experienced angling boat than that one as well as he is an ex commercial fisherman

i dont know what size boat you have got but i have just ordered my 3 rd lowrance x51 sounder which is £151.00 which i have compared against all types of makes and different models and you cant beat it they have showed up bass when the birds are working and the display is nice and clear not like most where they are made up of lots of dots the reason why im on my 3rd is because this is my 3 rd boat incase u were wondering why i was on my 3 rd sounder

This year is the worst year for bass sinse ive been fishing it cant be that they are late now there just isnt any has anyone had many recently even the ones i have caught are a pound and a half and no bigger ive caught the most sting rays and spotty dogs then i have for the last 5 years just no bass

have a go at trolling for them it works here make sure you go at the same speed through them all the time otherwise when you change engine revs the fish notice it and it scares them of

try out some hokeye, if you want to target bigger fish try something like red gill ive fished the birds working for years now all round the blackwater ive found the bigger the lure and hook the bigger the fish, the birds have started workin in the river now but the fish are very small

one stingray and thats it so far this year my mate had three in between the targets a couple of days ago no bass showing up gold hanger either but the birds have started working in the river
