  1. Hello Guys, I was just wondering if anyone used or knew if the Thule kayak carrier fits a p13? There is one on ebay and I am thinking of bidding on it. There appears to be a bit of rust on the underside, but the seller reckons that its nothing to worry about. Ebay - Thule kayak Carrier Mick
  2. Hi guys, I was just wondering whats the best plan when thunder and lightening comes out of nowhere and your in a kayak in the middle of the sea. I was in a friends SINK on friday and we checked the weather and there was no mention or indication of thunder and lightening in Ireland. So we headed out to strangford lough touring around the numerous islands. Then all of a sudden we heard a clap of thunder way in the distance. Figuring we weren't to safe, we head back to shore as fast as we could but the big evil looking clouds were quicker than us and were soon looming over head. I don't know if you would be insulated or not in a kayak, and was just wondering whats the best thing to do if your caught out like we were. Mick
  3. Is this a p13 or 15? Sorry im new! Mick Nice car too!

  5. Hi im finding it hard to find a good qualtity roof rack to carry my yak when i get her. I have shopped around and am leaning towards the thule systems but they very expensive. What roof setups do you have and are there any cheaper alternatives. thanks, mick

  7. Hey guys, I have ordered my P13 NZ model in sunset but now i am wondering is the flame colour the same as sunset. I came across Stevos P13 in the forum today and flame looks brilliant. Mick
  8. Would this fit a prowler 13? Mick
  9. Does anyone know the best way to repair a dry suit that has a small nick in the rubber foot section. Its letting in water. Cheers Mick P.s hole is about 1cm round.
  10. Hake: are you from "Norn Iron"? lol Mick
  11. Hake: I live in strangford, about 30 miles south of Belfast. Its not far and am heading up to Belfast today so i might call in to Tiso's to see what they can do. I emailed a company called Canoekayaktrader.co.uk Sunrise Prowler 13 (NZ model) standard for = £389 ( i forgot to ask him what this comes with though cos i don't want the basic shell.) £50 Delivery to NI Throw in a Daytripper paddle for £15. I will probably add fishing mounts and fishfinder etc after, as my dads mates owns a yachting chanderly. What extras does the angling p13 come with anyway? thanks. Mick
  12. Think i have settled for a Prowler 13, Could anyone recommend a good dealer that "would be nice to me" for a P13? (also need to deliver to N. IReland.) thanks, mick
  13. Hello, Im finding it hard obtaining pictures and images of this kayak, as I think this is more suitable for my area (strong tides etc). Does anybody know where i could go to to view good pictures of the scupper pro tw ( rigged or stock it doesn't matter) or even pictures of there own scupper. There are no dealers in Northern Ireland that I have found as yet so im surfing the net for info and research. Thanks, Mick
  14. I am a kitesurfer and when im "busting" I just land the kite on the water, hang on to my board with one hand, the kite with the other, using the buoyancy aid and board to keep me afloat and "let go" lol. then i just hold the top of my steamer wetsuit open and drag with the kite to get a cold water flush, not pleasant this time of year but it gets rid of the waste! I have no idea what to do when i get my yak tho (if im not wearing a wetsuit). Mick
  15. Hello, Im starting to really look at the Scupper (vs prowler 15) as its easier to paddle through the water, but I was just wondering how easy fish in and would there be enough room for a tent, sleeping bag and few other bits and bobs. Mick
  16. Hey guys, Im still researching theses kayaks and came across the RTM range and liked the look of the Disco. Does anybody know anything about these SOT's especially compared to Prowler 13 and 15. It measures 14ft and 26inch beam. Mick

  19. Hey Guys I have been fishing for years and caught many species around my area (conger, dogfish, numerous sea bass, mackeral, pollock etc and an Octopus!) I was wondering whats the best type of reel to use though as I have never casted from a kayak? Thanks Mick
  20. Lol Bets! I thought it was a prowler 15 but now im unsure! Mick
  21. Hey guys thanks for the advice, yeah im starting to look towards the Scupper a bit more to. I don't mind gettin wet, actually enjoy it as long as im not cold for long periods. Could you tell me what this kayak is in the Ocean range I can't make it out but it looks really good> http://www.oceankayak.com/photos.html - (Pete Jones Photograph in Scotland) Also another point is there problem getting specific colours from the suppliers. I like the colour scheme of the this boat. Mick
  22. Oh sorry meant to also add - "can you take the fishfinder off the kayak so I would be able to mess around in the surf and is the Scotty holder thingy completely water proof. (Sorry don't know the correct jargon yet but im getting there ) Mick
  23. Hey David thanks for the mention. Good post, I will be installing one of these in my yak when I get her, probably closer to july (exams and work commitments :-( ) Saw some cheap ones so I will need all your help and other forum members when selecting batteries and fuses and the correct fishfinder. I was thinking today whilst reading one of my dads yachting mags, Is it possible to add a speedo to measue knots and distance covered by the kayak or is putting a hole in the bottom of the hull a bad idea. I helped my dad do it on his westerly but there is a lot more protection i.e 6ft keel and 3 - 4 inches plus an inner hull. A trolling speedo would get tangled on weeds I imagine. Its just an idea, I guess you could always use GPS to measure ground covered. (speed over ground and not over water) Thanks, Mick
  24. Yeah he was paddling alone, strangford lough is a very strange place, with slack water its as calm as a mirror, but when the tide ebbs or floods it turns into a raging torent. Like kitesurfing I do, I will never be going out alone especially offshore.
