  1. about forty years ago a company called seabee made a a canoe outboard two stroke and with a straight drive to angle back . so nothing is new . and i beleive it was not against the law then either i have heard people actually fish and dive off them , criminal i say
  2. sorry to hear about your setback prowler ,hope the next scan is allclear too. them viruses can be nasty little buggers .get some of that nice sunshine we are getting better than any medicine . take care of yourself prowler
  3. nice one . harken that was the name i used i paid £15 for the control cleat. i will get the jam cleats there i think . do they deduct vat ?
  4. control clamcleat and pulleys from southpier , at the backof the shop hartle or harkle was the make , clamcleats i could not get so still pondering that one
  5. hi bill could not get close to glue them ,tried superglue on washers to nuts ,they fell off lol
  6. i have that book got mine from bournmouth canoes it was cheaper than that £8.50p worth a read though
  7. well i took the plunge and driiled my first holes fitting the trolly system as in anglers afloat . all was well till the control clamcleat , drilled the 4mm holes then came the difficult bit tightening the nuts ,well getting the buggers on first . because access is through the front hatch ratchet on ext stick feeling for the bolts was trial and error but at last success ,managed to tighten them up. used nyloc nuts ,could not get washers on as hoped as i could not reach to manually put them on . thought about putting the system on the other side but after this afternoon ,one side will do. i think i deserve a nice glass of wine after all that
  8. ha ha i can see it now being towed in by a yellow sub ,trying not to be noticed walking up the beach . thats what i thought about the net most of mine are tiddlers lol.
  9. i know you did not mean me . i am all for safety too ,couple more questions (1) do you use a safety line to connect you to the yak so if you do get a dunk you do not drift apart . (2) is a landing net needed or do you just lift them in by hand . another thing i used to do when i had my boat even if going a little way say in the bay with gorey castle in view is take a compass bearing . i have been out there on a sunny day and all of a sudden fog .no castle no land . i used to try and guess which way land was and always got it wrong . so a bearing is good practice .
  10. yes i know what you mean was the same with surfboards some were bolted to the roof lol . i will probably be a fair weather fisherman and keep within my limitations .age etc but i hope to enjoy the fishing ,i did not want the hassle of owning my own boat again so this seemed the obvious choice .only spotted it in my trout mag then found that loads were using them . as i said it will be mostly salt fly with a bit of plugging .still got some things to get . i think my next door neibour is interested as he sailboards and surfs but is finding age creeping up on him so i think he will be using one in the surf.
  11. hi guys thanks for that i am well chuffed apart from the weather (sorry prowler ) , i went for the NZ because of the previous fault . iron stores have only had theirs in this week , they say they have a job keeping up with sales . rob in there was very helpful he has suggested a shortie wetsuit but if i want a sleeveless longjohn he can get in a couple of days . what do you guys wear for footwear . i have it in the garage now used a old dresser base i had in there with ply on top and then foam .sits just the right height for working on and supported along the length
  12. got to reorganize the garage first ,then it;s rigging time .still got some things to get yet , wetsuit , cart etc. had first problem loading and unloading from my landcruiser 4x4 .i think i have solved that with a portable step from b&q aluminium . its about 18" high and 2 ' long x 1' . so step up on that brings rack in range .
  13. bought a fladen today seems comfortable and plenty of pockets
  14. must be my fault as i just bought my prowler angler 13 ,
