  1. Forgot to mention the tope meet...it's in my diary
  2. Hi Simon, I wasn't responding to your post, just a bit puzzled why this was still going. Seems pretty obvious to me. Fished a patch about 3/4 miles out from Porthoustock for 4 days running, trying to get on the exact bit - very hard to do, don't think I managed to get just where I was originally. (Fish finder not working though, that could have solved the problem). If you give your "secret marks" away for cash, being a guide, what do you expect! If you don't want to don't! Don't come crying to the rest of us when the obvious happens. Yes, fully support all the conservation measures, especially for bass - get real.........nets, pollution and humankind in general do the worst damage, unseen.
  3. Thanks for that one - leaving my exposed power leads hanging around in the general wetness of the yak (with no on/off to the battery - apart from removing the fuse) has probably been the cause of the corrosion I've bin getting. Just ordered a new power lead for the hummingbird FF I've only had for a few months after one of the pins snapped off. What I don't get is, if you haven't got an on/off switch surely washing the ends in fresh (or any) water will blow the fuse?
  4. Can't believe this thread is still going, bin down to Cornwall for 16 days, was watching this thread thinkin I might of contacted Barrimundi, to help me out with some ideas for marks - saw how it was going and changed my mind! http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i228/mar...es/P8240055.jpg Yeh put back......the sum bass count.....first bass this year....had it been a bit bigger I might of ate it I was fishing just round the corner, from Porthoustock / Porth Kerris. Caught some monster wrasse, pollack and a couple of conger on the last night. Fuller report (with pics!) http://zebrakayak.proboards81.com/index.cg...read=1156805058 If you're down that way again Paintfly I have some marks in mind - no conditions!!
  5. If I had a suspect battery I'd get it along to a specialist battery shop - we have one in the area Varta Batteries or something similiar. They'll check it out for you make sure it's ok. (Nothing's getting warm whilst the batteries connected is it? That would be a short circuit, which should blow the fuse if you have one fitted)
  6. I was a bit reluctant to get involved the way the thread was developing, but for what it's worth, after buying the yak & forking our for allsorts, funds were rather low. I bought a secound hand golf trolley and hacked it down (good wheels ) but found it a totally risky business going over anything but flat areas , so heard about Zebra's trolley, , yep some reservations, but as I said above - You's get what you pay for. I've used the Eckla Canoe Trolley 2 or 3 times (kind assistance from John Legg), that's good but with a fully loaded Malibu 2 it feels less solid (though lighter obviously when when stashed on-board), than Zebra's. Pulling over rocks, soft sand, loose pebbles the wide wheels pay off. Down side is that it doesn't stand up on it's own - I solved that with a bit of dowling and a peice of elasticated rope (took 5 mins), and the rust thing - well, time will tell. I was glad he went to the trouble of trying to come up with a solution to providing a cheaper alternative to the expensive trolleys out there. I know he'd be up for "constructive" critism. Seems to me you put Kayak or Marine in front of anything and the price goes up by 25% (or more) by default! Anyways - to you guys down south, watch out, coming to cornwall to catch some of your bass!
  7. Thanks Newt, That's what I thought!
  8. Yep I was fishing a rocky bottom this weekend, thought I'd snagged the rocks (bit more resistance). Didn't notice till I came to chuck the anchor back out that the cable tie had done it's job. I used a thick cable tie, and cut about 2/3 of the way thro. That's after loosing an anchor without part cutting it. Starvinmarvin's recommendation for checking you can break it on dry land is worth doing, bear in mind you can't pull that hard when afloat!
  9. I've got one & it works fine, yep a bit heavier than an aluminium one, but a lot cheaper! V solid for transporting the yak up and down those rocky shores You's get what you pay for!
  10. Hi, Thanks for that, I did a search since & found a good thread with some suggestions. Think I'm going to be spoilt for choice....can't wait!
  11. Thanks Jon, think I'm going to have loads of fun exploring!!
  12. Hi, Anyone reading this from down south? I'm on holiday, based in Truro for 2 weeks beginning the weekend of the 12th August. I'm hoping someone might be able to give me some ideas about good marks/launch sites etc. Thanks, Marc
