  1. If your after reliability then shimano reels are the way to go, i only recently replaced my old 8010's after over 10 years of service and they still ran perfectly As for rods, thats purely down to what you want from them as there are a bewildering amount of carp rods on the market. Personally i don't need to cast to the horizon and like to play a fish with a rod not a poker so i use 12ft 2 3/4 lb TC rods. However sometimes you need that bit extra distance so it kind of depends on what type of venues you are going to fish.
  2. Hi, depends on how much you want to spend but the wychwood rage rod and the wychwood freespool 60 reel are on offer together at only £49.99 (From Cliamx tackle). A bit more and you get the Fox warrior XT rod and a Shimano 6000re reel for just over £100.
  3. Shimano 6000re baitrunners, great reels and even better value. New cost about £55.00 look on ebay and you can get em for £30.00!!!! bargain.
  4. As promised here are a few other pictures of my baitbaot. I am about to start work on MK4 exactly the same design but slightly larger and made entirely from aluminum sheet. img]
  5. Need some advice, i'm going fishing for specimen perch and am looking to use small deadbaits. Can anyone tell me if it is worth using small sea deadbaits like sprats or are naturals like roach better?
  6. Hi Rash I didn't need 2 speed controllers (i did initially think of doing it that way too...). I used the electronics from an RC tank which is perfect as it mixes the channels to steer using 2 motors. Even better the RC tank had 5 channels for turret rotation/height and firing so i had all the extras for the hopper I'll stick pictures on later. Thanks Paul.
  7. Hi Rash Here are a couple of plans i made prior to building it. The boat has changed slightly since i drew them up but not too much. I will post a couple more pics of the underside etc for you. It was a lot cheaper to build than you may think.... Thanks Paul (Pikergonecarpin)
  8. 100 + carp fisheries, and a few of them are very well stocked runs waters.
  9. Check out www.scottishcarpgroup.co.uk they have plenty of waters containing carp. Scotland has lots more carp than you think, obviously no where near as down south but there are at least 100+ most of which are in the central belt.
  10. I've seen one of these on the water and it was'nt too stable in choppy conditions due to it being single hulled. Basically it's just a normal boat hull converted to be a bait boat. If your interested in buidling your own then they are very cheap to build, either convert a normal radio controlled boat (costs about £50 or less depending on what sort of range your after) or if your really keen you can build your own from scratch (easier than it sounds.... honest....) I've built 3 different boats over the years both for piking and carping.
  11. Here are a couple of pics of my home made bait boat. I've built 3 so far of different designs but this one is the best so far........
