  1. Nasher, We fished the back of St Michaels Mount in September, plenty of fish, easy launch from the beach, straightforward paddle , fished on the drift with feathers and spinners, caught pollack, mackerel, scad, and a lone gurnard ! Worth a paddle ! Cheers Martin.
  2. Les, I have paddled up the avon to the first weir, from the feeder, past Besleys tea garden. There are lots of likely spots enroute, with reed beds. lillies, overhanging trees where anglers from the bank cannot actually fish ! fancy a paddle one saturday just to suss it out, and perhaps take a spinning rod ? Martin.
  3. Les, Where do you fish ? You mentioned in an earlier post that you were making enquiries about fishing the Avon, how did you get on ? Fancy a trip one weekend ? Bristol martin !

Understand the system now, thanks. Do you fish from the seat or legs over the side (side saddle style ? Thanks Martin.

    Anchoring

Hello , What is the idea of the anchor pulley system ? Being a boat angler , whenever we have anchored it has been from the bow so the boat swings and faces into the tide. I thought this would be the same for a kayak. I haqve searched the previous threads but cannot find the answer, any reasons ? Thanks Martin.
  6. Thanks for that , its an eagle cuda for me , Martin.
  7. Gilbo how do you find the Cuda ? Are they fairly accurate ? No problems with them getting wet/damp ? Easy to install ? Sorry for all the questions but this is new to me ! Cheers Martin.
  8. Are all the fishfinders mentioned waterproof ?
  9. Since being put off buying a finder in the states, I have now found a couple within my price range in the uk, they are 1 Eagle Cuda 168 £63 or the Garmin 90 £72, both advertised in the Boat Fishing mag this month. Does anyone use either of these, are they ok and if so which is preferred ? Thanks in anticipation Martin.
  10. Nasher , Due to the weather being forecast for perfect we are now hoping to launch at 10am, returnig at 4pm, would be nice to meet you Martin.
  11. Nasher, We have a caravan in Perranporth that we use all year, and are also looking for spots to fish ! We are heading down to Marazion on Saturday to fish the back of St Michaels Mount (weather permitting but looks ideal !!!!) where two weeks ago we had a great day (see thread). If you are about on Saturday we will head out at about 11 am returning at 4pm look for two yellow caper anglers, cheers Martin.

    Fish finder

Thanks for your replies, looks like I will have to save harder and buy one in the UK ! Will have to make do with some quiksilver t shirts then !! Thanks again Martin.
  13. Hello , my wife is off to New York in November and asked if there was anyting I needed (mistake !) I have been looking for a reasonably priced fishfinder/depthfinder so started to trawl the net. West Marine in New York have a Piranha Max 210 for $99 !". Firstly does anyone use this model ? Any problems with purchasing in the usa ? Any suitable alternatives ? Thanks Martin.
  14. Hello , Have just returned from the B/H weekend which we spent in perranporth. We fished Marazion, the area around St Michaels mount, and had some great sport on spinning rods with feathers. Our catch consisted of dozens of mackerel !! a single scad, a single gurnard and a dozen or so pollack to about two pounds !! We flattened down the barbs on our feathers so all the fish were retuned quickly, all but one swimming off strongly. A stiff offshore wind made it an intersting paddle back, but was not too bad. What was noticeable was the way the wind caught our kayaks ! If you became too focused on the fishing it would not take long before you had a long paddle to start the next drift. Les do you fish the Avon ? Would,nt mind giving it a try one Sunday ? Will try upload some photos when I have time, Cheers Martin.
