  5. Hi All, The FPO and i had our first serious paddle today Sat 14 April. The sea was flat calm and we timed our launch to get the start of the flood tide, when we arrived there were load of sea-birds sitting about 10 yards off the beach and as soon as we had made a couple of strokes on the paddles the sea was alive with fry and bass ! We tried various ways to catch some but it was only about 12 inches deep, we paddled a little further and striaght away i got a garfish ! we continued to cast around but we must have broke them up as the birds by now had moved off ! We paddled out to the rocks and i had another gar and so did the FPO ! We drifted for about an hour and then anchored as the tide had picked up, it was solid wrasse the FPO had one of about 3 lbs and i also had a corkwing ! We fished for about 1.5 hours and then came back . great weather ! happy yaking !! Luffers

  9. HI All ! Having spent all the winter chasing Cod around the eastern solent in my warrior and finding only Conger and Rays my mind is starting to come back this seasons Yak fishing off my home town of Bognor Regis ! No winter kayaking for me I have to fit a fishfinder but where can i buy a swimming noodle with a cap simular to the one in the anglers afloat demo ?? I have all the other components Also i have been looking for a scotty rodholder like the one i have seen in the magazine articles with the vertical steel extension piece ? Is this a modification that has been done afterwards as i can find plenty of holders for sale BUT not with this extension piece ! Sorry to ask questions that have been asked before BUT can someone humour me and offer some help please Cheers Luffers

  11. Hi Paul ! What can i say, well done mate ! I must admit i did not think it possible and maybe a little dangerous, but "he how dares wins" rodders. Having been lucky enough to have caught one of davys pets from catchalot how you did this is even more incredible ! Again well done mate ! Luffers !
  12. Hi Gedi ! I live in Bognor Regis ! if you want to come over any time you are most welcome !! I mainly fish on my Yak in Chichester Harbour and off the rocks at Bognor although i have a Warrior 165 and slip from Hayling all the time . When fishing from Bognor mainly fish across low water !! regrads Luffers !
  13. Hi Neil ! Please dont tempt fate !! she already asked me if i get some bass flys she want one ! i may just give her some of my old trout flys ??? mind you knowing her luck se will bag a double on a size 14 buzzer
  14. Hi Simon, Thanks for the link! When i am at low water the depth i am in is about 3-4 feet and very rocky , so i decided to use a floating line to start with and see how it went but i may have to use a sink-tip ? . I have a whole wallet full of big trout flys but i am interested in your comment about the size of fly i should be using and i will try your suggestion and let you know how i get on !! What weight rod do you use ? Bit late for keeping it quite as there are nets and pots every where BUT alot is not netted so there is room for all !! regards Luffers
  15. Hi sm, Well i just decided to use my 7-8 wieght trout fishing set up with floating line and the biggest dead chicken in the box !! Were did you get your schminnows from ? From comments my fly even thou it had a small plastic sandeel tail is too small so i need to move up in size !! regards luffers
  16. Hi All, After a wasted round trip from Bognor to Telford today with work I arrived back home at 1530. A quick check on the beach showed wind 3-4 SW but I needed a fishing fix so it was straight home and within 30 minutes I was back on the beach with my Yak and underway out at low-water !. I have decided to sacrifice one of my trout rod and reels to do some saltwater fly fishing and I started with this just drifting the line of the rocks as the tide started to flood !. After 4 long drifts and nothing I decided to switch to my spinning rod and on the first drift I caught my first Bognor Bass about 1 lb 12ozs. The next drift I hooked a much better fish that came off close to the kayak which I estimated at 4-5 lbs. Next drift nothing and on the last drift I had a hard fighting Bass of 3lbs 5ozs! This is just what I have brought my yak for hit-and-run 2 hours concentrated effort!! Brilliant! regards Luffers
  17. Yep ! thats the one ! when it hits the bottom two doors open , works i treat ! at slack water i have even used it out on the "spoil grounds". I mainly use it for bigger food items chopped mackerel and squid etc !! it does make things happen !! Its made from 316 stainless !
  18. Hi Speciman ! Sorry no link :-( but a guy makes them in a small unit in Portsmouth !! the advert was in BFM magazine !! regards Luffers !
  19. Hi all ! I have groundbaited from my boats for sometime now ! For the bream off selsey its a must !! Being a tight A** i use the cheapest trout pellets i can find and pour hot water over them so they go soft and add rice and all the bait from the last fishing trip !!. With this smelly mix i put some in plastic moulds with a loop of garden wire and the rest i force into a plastic milk container and when full i screw the top back on !! Then when i arrive on the mark i send down a couple of frozen blocks first to get thing moving and then when the bites start i send down the 4 pint container with holes in for slow release !! Does it work ?? sure when the bream come aboard they cough up the rice and chum !. On my Yak ! because off bognor its quite shallow i have been just throwing it in by hand ! On saturday morning i was out by the rocks in the P13 and using float gear in 10 minutes of arriving and starting chumming i had garfish ,mackeral, bream and ballen wrasse !! For tope and smoothounds i know have one of these new "EDGE" droppers , they work very well also !!
  20. sorry simon ! i had a complete bow/stern port/starboard moment !! i do know the differeance honest !?!?!? Its been a long day and i have been dealing with our Russian customers all day :-( I will shut up before i confuse yakers even more :-)))))))
  21. I have always anchored from the stern !! I have never thought to anchor from the bow ???? The only time i anchored from the stern and bow was course fishing from a boat in a lake .

If you shout on a mobile only one person hears ! if you shout on the vhf everbody hears ! Also my mobile usally has a good signal BUT if i am out in the solent i get NO signal !! It has to be a vhf !
  23. Hi speciman, No ! its a length of chain rolled up into a ball and liked together with cable tidys !! Crude i know but i have used this type of anchor on my other boats for fishing over rough ground but more for drifting when you want to slow things down !. On p13 my chain-ball weights about 4 lbs . Where i hope to do most of my fishing the foldy type anchor is going to be a problem but the chain-ball will be fine :-) I just connect it direct to my 4mm anchor warp and lazy line by a weak link ! regards Luffers

  25. Hi All, Well I had a week off this week and unfortunately not for fishing :-((( Monday afternoon I had my first serious session out to Bognor rocks! I have lived at Bognor for 20 years and this was the first time I have taken a boat out to them and it was quite something to see in the clear water!! Closest I came to catching something was a herring gull that followed me around and attacking my plugs!!! The wind then went south (the worst direction for me) and I tried on Wednesday night but conditions were just too rough and I chicken out and came back after 40 minutes! As the wind got stronger I decided to withdraw to Chichester harbour Friday afternoon and the FPO and I went out in our p13`s to a banker schoolie bass mark and we caught between us 16 bass, best 3/4 of a pound. Thanks Neil ! we used the anchor rigs you advised and they worked a treat!! I have made just one change, because we will be fishing mostly off the rocks I have decided on a ball-chain anchor and it worked a treat! This morning Sunday we got up early and went to another mark in the harbour as the wind had increased and this time it was a lot deeper and still the ball-anchors worked a treat! We caught bream, 1 corkwing and ballen wrasse and the FPO had a 1,1\2lbs bass! Must say I am impressed with the yaks!! And am looking forward to getting back out to the rocks and doing some bottom fishing!! regards Luffers
