525 Mag help!

Hi, I've just purchased my first 525 mag. What is the silver knob on the right hand side of the reel by the star drag and what does it do. Also, what would be the best settings to use on it as I want to be able to cast a good distance but don't want to end up in a mess because the reel is too fast, thanks.

Thats for spool tension - if tou set it so that there is a 'very' slight horizontal movement in the spool then you should be fine.

I'm guessing that I'll start on max mags and keep reducing until I get linelift and then go back one step to be on the safe side...
