Weybourne Norfolk 23rd July 2005

Saturday 23rd July 2005, Cliff and me started out from my house, at 1.30am for our next fishing adventure. Weybourne Norfolk was our destination, hoping to repeat last months Smoothound catch. A steady journey through the night, talk of what could be, Big Bass and Smoothounds galore. Stopping half way for the usual Cappuccino, our minds were buzzing with excitement.

Arriving at the sleepy village of Weybourne, dawn breaking with the sound of wildlife echoing all around us. Soon we were into our fishing attire and heading up the wooden steps ready to face the short walk over the pebbled beach, 50yds, no more. Placing our box’s and tackles onto the beach we decided to make this base camp. In front of us was a white-surfed angry sea, not the sort to go Smoothound searching.

The winds were forecast 13 North North West moving North then from the West decreasing to 8.

The sky was full of grey clouds keeping out the mornings Sunrise.

With daybreak and us moving about, no others were on the beach, the sound of ducks and Moorhens, going about their morning shuffle, in the wild reed beds behind us. In front of us, the sea state was angry, but looked like in could give up a few Bass.

4.45am Rods, with lines cast, were looking seaward. Time to adjust and settle down, as the fishing session had just begun.

Time to call it a day.

Not a knock, rattle or sign that we would be beaching that one-eyed Rockling or foul hooked Pouting. Not even a crab. Even short spell trying for Mackerel produced zilch

The sea, as we witnessed the change, had settled throughout the day and maybe the anglers coming onto the beach for a night session would hopefully be successful.

Another day, 3 hours journey in front of us, cappuccino half way. This would revitalise or minds and we would start to plan our next fishing adventure. Where! Well watch this space.

Cheers 4 Now
