Sounds like you had a nice days fishing Alan - with some nice Cod - pitty about the Lunker that got away, as you say though "is next time" :) What style and colour of pirk were you using?

I phoned my pals who were out at sea on Saturday, and when asked what was been caught so far, I was told "counting the urine - one specimen onboard" :D they all did make up for it a few minutes later though with some nice Pollack to around 10lb, Cod to 4-5lb, Ling to 7-8lb, Tusk to 5-6lb ,Haddock to 4-5lb and some Blue Mouth. To say I was jealous of not been at sea on Saturday - is an understatement.

Saint - I'm guessing Ballachulish is pretty snaggy, what do you usually catch up that way it this time of year? Cod the main target?

Hi Gillies I had never fished there at that time before. The main target is usually thornies with some doggies and conger etc. If you use freelining tactics you can also pick up codling and pollack. Though I had neither spinning rod nor ragworm with me.

The place is so snaggy its usually nicknamed Ballahellish! I have had some horrendous times up there when everything is locked solid as soon as it hits the bottom.
