Exeter this time and the weekend

I've now moved to Exeter, after a few years in Leamington Spa and a year in Southampton - AN advice gratefully received for those locations in the past.

Once again, I'm calling on the collective knowledge of AN regarding local fishing. I've joined E&DAA and has some success with pike on the Exeter Canal, but would now like to get a decent fish or two from the River Exe, any species.

By quirk of fate (or rather my profession), I have occasional permission to fish Trew's Weir. I know some people would give their granny to fish this bit of water, but it's been frustratingly slow, so am looking at the E&DAA stretch downstream.

Any advice, I'm not expecting anyone to give away their hotspots, just something to get going with. I quite fancy a roving approach for chub (or whatever) this weekend, what do you think prospects are?

Cheers
