Matching butt & tip sections

All rods are made by cutting a single blank.(well except for dolly butts and long tip beach rods etc but you know whatI mean!)

 

Actually that's not always so these days, especially with rods with overfit joints rather than spigots. Each section of most of the rods I designed when I owned my own tackle company was made on a different mandrel and so had a different taper. This isn't unusual today on British-made rods, although not all British blank makers use this system. Having now retired I've no idea though whether it applies to current mass-produced Chinese rods.

 

Otherwise I agree with Budgie that it's best to match the sections.

I keep mine marked, it just makes sense to me to do so. Ive had a set of Shimano Solstace carp rods for over 10years which are marked with a dot of tipex and its never worn off once lol. Have done the same to my greys barbel rods recently too.

 

If in doubt, id mark them!
