goldenpost4u - I can use ether and a gauze covered piece of wire mesh to put a person to sleep for surgery (and did so numerous times in the 60s) but these days there are better options available so I would opt for an improved product.

 

I can probably still cast a plug with 6 treble hooks using a baitcasting reel with no brakes of any sort and line made of woven dacron but that does not mean I will since newer equipment is easier, safer, and more effective in many cases.

 

Those are my preferences and as you say, to each his own choices.
