off to islay in august / september and if i can tear myself away from the bruichladdich, i may do some fishing, anyone got any tips?

Hi Jeepster, I've been to Islay a couple of times, the last time was over 10 years ago tho. All the lochs are teeming with small trout and the best one is Loch Gorm. Try to get a boat and an engine on this one and you should have a good day with fish up to a pound. Standard loch style works well with bibio, zulu, B&P spider etc. we also had fish on buzzers, PTN and muddlers from the bank of other lochs. watch out for the midges once the wind drops in the evening! If you need more info just ask, I have OS maps, photos and diaries to sift thro' if you are going to a particular place on the island.
