Histograms . . . ?

Does the histogram always take it's reading from the whole frame or does it take into account your meter setting where the meter reading is taken from, like centre weighted or evaluative metering etc?

You'll need to read the documentation on your camera to be sure, but I would expect it to come from the whole frame. The histogram function has little to do with exposure, it's used to enhance the tonal range and contrast of an image.
