References to someone's "man" reminds me of a lovely bit of advice I once read Re. pike fishing by, I think, Alfred Jardine or John Bickerdyke - "If pike are sulking in the reeds, get your man to send his dog in to flush them out."

I too remember a quote from Bickerdyke writing about barbel fishing "get you man to gather a thousand worms" Wonder if it was the same man?
