selective baits?

Has anyone noticed a particular bait (or, perhaps, method) which has led to the capture of a significantly larger proportion of commons as opposed to mirrors (or vice-versa)?

I seem to recall reading an artical by gary bayes,in that he said amber attract use to produce more than it's fair share of commons.

when i fished at willow lakes (foston) i mainly use maggots and sweetcorn and with maggots i tend to catch mirror carp around 3-5lb and with sweetcorn i mainly catch common carp (if i catch a carp that is)
