This should probably be posted in one of the fishing forums but anyway

I went fishing at the weekend from saturday morning thru till sunday night. I had 2 rods set up on the bottom for the carp and a rod for float fishing to pass the time.

It was about 8 on saturday night i cast out and as soon as my float settled it went skating accross the surface.

I struck and a bat landed face first in the water, it took surprise at first unitll i realised it was caught in my line.

I managed to get the bat onto the bank where i could see the line was wrapped round its wing once, neck twice and through its mouth. I managed to get it free and it flew off ok, i was just wandering if anyone has caught anything weird when fishing?

Had a couple of close calls whilst fly fishing on a little brook. Eventually, I gave up and went off to fish away from the nutty flying shrew.

Well done for freeing it without it biting you! If you ever do get bitten, seek help at once - it's not unknown for bats in the UK to carry rabies:

Im glad i didnt get bitten as i wouldnt of known that

It was bitting like mad but it was concentrating more on the line through its mouth then it my hands thankfully.
