To put a test item up for a grand is stupid due to the listing fees.

 

They are very useful though. I changed over to a different auction management system at the start of the year and started quite a few test runs to make sure everything was running smoothly before committing all the auctions to it. It gives you a chance to buy the item on another account and go through checkout to ensure theres no glitches.
