Cordless phones

Recommended Posts

We are having another number connected for the apartment upstairs, all the incoming cabling terminates in the shop.

I am sure I have seen a cordless phone where the receiver/transmitter plugs into the box, with a power feed and the phone with its station in a separate location.

I am trying to avoid having to much more clutter on our back counter where the cable enters the building or having unsightly cable running up the outside of the building.

Am I correct or wrong?

What you may be thinking about is the same thing that I have used to put a phone in my garage/workshop/hideaway. The main phone is plugged into a device that that is in turn plugged into a mains socket. You then plug another box into any socket in the house and plug a phone into that. So essentially you can just plug a phone in wherever there is an electrical socket. The only slight snag is that the second phone must be a corded not a cordless phone. I bought mine from Maplins for about forty pounds

I think this is what I've got.

The 'base station' is plugged into the phone socket and a power socket.

The 'slave' is plugged into a power socket somewhere else.

Both have a fully functional cordless handset.

Not sure of the range!

my biggest tip is to choose a phone which is ofcourse rechargeable but takes AAA or AA sized rechargeables ,most have non standard sized power packs which are expensive to replace if you can find them

i plug our cordless phone into our BT hub ,it rings when the landline does and if used saves you going into the living room but it can also be used as a separate line if the ordinary phone is in use ,very handy

I think I have found it online with Maplins, it is called a DECT system no phone with it, one piece fits in phone master box and plugs into mains socket, second bit goes into any socket in the building.

Thanks for help and clues

Do a search on Ebay for "binatone icarus 1500 twin"

One of the item descriptions uses the word DECT.

£20 including postage looks a good deal.
