i am going to bridport dorset/chesil beach this weekend. i have a beach caster and basic tackle . i am a relative beginner. Any advice on what to fish for . what bait to use and any tips on how to set up would be appreciated . ta

Big fish bait in close - 20 yards no more - for bass (2 hrs as tide coming in at dusk is my favourite) keep hold of the rod if you can. Smaller worm/squid baits at distance for flatties if you are lucky.

 

Night often best - fish or worm baits again work well, usually doggies and pout about to stop the boredom!

 

Finally a set of feathers, theres always mackerel about and its good casting practice!
