Reading back through some of stories has been a pleasure and enjoyable to say the least. I didn't know JB for no where near as long you as you or Charlie did but the years i did, i can safely say that it was an honest pleasure to meet the man and enjoy his knowledge of the industry. May the man rest in peace knowing that he has set the milestone in taking the fishing game in the North Sea to another level.

How is Michele doing these days? Has anyone seen her or is she still in NZ?

Hi Carl, I believe that Michele is still in NZ I spoke to her shortly after the sad news about John. When I get my notes sorted out and put into some kind of journal I will send you a copy. As you can expect yours and your party’s names come up quite a few times.

I was only reading this morning about the time when we all became hydraulic experts trying to get the anchor back onboard. I remember how one trip you where sat about amidships just about level with the galley window. You had mates on either side of you so you where constantly looking for and aft to see if anybody was catching anything. I thought it was quite funny and I remember Michele commenting on it as I went for a cup of coffee. I put in the diary Michele has suspicions of Carl being a tennis fanatic in his spare time. might mean nothing to anybody reading it but it makes me grin all the same, another little note that I had for same trip was “Michele says why cannot all our customers be like Carl and his party she says they not only do all the washing up, but accept a poor trip as an occupational hazard..

Am so pleased to see that you still love your fishing and will sort something out for next year.

Regards

Great times and happy days John. It's not an exact science and you have to take the highs with the lows. It's called Fishing for a reason isn't it? If it were that easy it would be called Catching. Hope to see you soon enough John. :)

Now I understand, I've just seen the other topic, good idea hope it gets off the ground as its a fine boat looking for a purpose

Hi Brian

Pleased you have seen my other post.

Yes the Achates is a fine boat going to pot.

It has a real anglers pedigree with some of the best angling skippers in Whitby having owned it.

I would fully support a Whitby boat angling club who would get the ball rolling.
