seacking advice on day ticket waters

[Its just me]

Would like some advice on where to go to take my son and his friend out to catch grayline and barbel. Looking for a day ticket evnue that may allow us to bivvy up for a night before moving on. I'm in Oxfordshire and won't mind traveling to the Avon, Kennet or the Severn for some good catches.

Any help?

I think I am right in saying that you will be very fortunate to find what you seek on the Avon. Most stretches do not permit night fishing for the clubs members, so for a day ticket holder it will be very difficult.

 

I guess the owners of 'game fish' rivers are a bit nervous of nocturnal visitors.

Thanks for the info. should have made it a bit clearer about the bivvy - its no so much for fishing but somewhere to get the head down before moving to somewhere else. again thanks anyway.

I dont know what it costs, but Sandy balls campsite Nr Fordingbridge may be able to help. They have static vans for hire and accept tourers, no doubt tents as well. They also have a stretch of the Avon.Some day ticket waters available nearby. Meadowbank holidays at Christchurch 01202 483597 have similar facilities and are situated at the lower end of the Throop fishery, again the Avon is nearby.

 

Alternatively, type 'Avon Angling' into your search engine, it is a v.good tackle shop in Ringwood, it can advise on local accomodation.

Harvington in between stratford and evesham have day ticket waters with plenty of barbel to be had.

Manor farm leisure have caravans for hire and tourers are also accepted.I fish a stretch just before manor farm and you can camp there no problem.If you want anymore info email me.

Yes, a friend tells me a top of the range static is £800.00 per week in high season!. Must be a lot less for a short break this time of year though.
