went into poundland today and in their petfood section they do half kilo bags of 4mm betaine pellets for a quid, is that a good price? I bought a couple of bags as its only a couple of quid!

 

We have a few pound style shops in my area and 2 were selling betaine pellets but I can not remember which were selling which style. I know one of the shops was poundland but can not remember what the other one is. I normaly take a look at their baits but dismiss them as poor quality.

 

One shop had a light brown coloured betaine pellet that looked very dry, I think it may have had a Carp printed on it. But another had square bags with a blue label on them and the pellets were very dark and looked to have an oily sheen to them. I did not like the look of the lighter coloured ones but the dark ones looked good and I stocked up with bags of 4mm and have been using them as my main feed pellet.

 

I have been using them for around 6 weeks as my main pellet. The fish seem to like them and I have had 22lb & 17lb Carp, plenty of Tench from 6 lb - 9lb and lots of Bream to 6lb. So the fish are not put of by the humble source. I am starting to run low, but will be stocking up again and this time I think I will get a few of the 6mm.

 

Most of the bait these places sell looks poor, but those dark betaine pellets look as good as stuff tackle shope charge alot more for and the fish seem to like munching on them.
