Spodding: Braid/Mono

Unless you use a braid (needs to be a tough one though like Quicksilver) the heavy mono is thick but it doent need to affect your presentation at all as it stops at the lead.Certainly no thicker than leadcore or rig tube.

Having spent thousands of hours chucking heavy leads on powerfull rods, I would suggest maybe 6 or 8 turns on the spool as a minimum for the leader.

I use 2 rod lengths all the time for leaders. Why, because you untie, retie your spods etc on every session and what starts off as 4 turns soon becomes 3 and then 2....
