Close season in Ireland.

Howard 13:

I'm thinking about going over to Ireland for a little break probably in mid May and was wondering if their close season is the same as ours?

If it is then I will postpone it for a while.

Thanks.

HB.

The only close season that operates in Ireland is for game fishing. Coarse fishing has no close season.

Good luck,

Colin

Make sure you order your bait before you go. According to Anglers Mail this week we're still banned from taking maggots, casters and the like to Ireland (all meat-based products are still subject to F&M restrictions and maggots fall under this category).

GO! Order at least twice as much bait( Maggots, Groundbait, Worms) as you think you could use in your wildest dreams, and you will still run out if you do it right. We went two years ago, and it was the experience of a lifetime, but we did stay at the most marvellous B & B where the owner was a phenomenal angler. If I knew the details I would post them, but someone else booked it. We were at Belturbet.
