Steve is right, you are not allowed to use any parts of any species of crayfish as bait in the UK. This is detailed in an EA booklet on Crayfish, of which I have a copy at home.

Are you sure? I thought that alien crays like signal and Turkish could be used as bait. If not they should be, make good eating though.

The EA told me the reason for the ban on signals as bait, whether in whole or in part, is because they carry a disease that is wiping out native stocks. They were afraid that anglers might spread this to other waters.

Just back - fingers and face raw from the desicating wind. No perch for me though Paul had a 2lber and lost one MUCH bigger (aint it always the wa ;( ) when the hook pulled has he teased it across the current from the far bank slack where he hooked it.
