Grass Carp Use

Jim Roper

Recommended Posts

As the water drops through the summer and the sun becomes stronger, the shallower parts of my old pond become covered with arrow-head weed. Would Grass Carp keep this under control??

There is no river access to or from the pond.

Jim - some great articles giving specific information on when/where/on what to use grassies and stocking densities plus other information.

Here and Here and others.

From what I can read, grassies are only effective on submerged weeds and if we are speaking of the same plant, Arrowhead (Sagittaria Spp.), it is an Emersed (above water) plant so I doubt they would do anything with it.
