Moving to Surrey, Running Waters?

Look like I'm moving from my Beloved Great Ouse area down to Godalming/Milton area in Surrey.

 

Is there any nice running water down that way, I tend to only Lure fish.

 

River Arun Maybe?

try not to, the change in everyday prices will frighten you ,godalming is in the commuter belt prices reflect this

Danny, I think you may be better off sticking to the Thames. The Wey in Guildford is quite wide in places, not sure about weed in summer though.

 

We have a lot of smaller sections of the Wey on it's journey to Guildford.

 

It really depends what you are looking for, other than just a river. Oh, and there's the Basingstoke canal, that moves but very slowly!!

Looking for the classic English river scene,

 

Upper gt ouse, Kennet, you know the type of thing,

Beautiful winding river, willows, not to fast pace.

 

Chesters, got no choice, but having moved to Bedfordshire after 33 years in central London, hope to be prepared for prices.

being in godalming at least means your centrally placed for the new forest (avon) on the east is the arun ,you have the wey as lyn mentioned (shallow and fast in tilford where i live) and north east for the thames + lots of club waters .

Went for a reccy this evening the exact place is witley, which seems to be close to tilford, is it worth fishing the wey at Godalming or tilford?

 

I saw the river in the dark ( this evening while looking around), couldn't see depth etc, but it looked nice.

 

The place seems to be teeming with Farm ponds, but I guess they are all private, but they look ripe for ultralight spinning.

 

Also what is that big pond as you head from God' to Guildford on the left ?

i think its broadwater lake ,havent fished it for years though ,farnham a s has some good waters (both frenshams loads of other lakes, a few small river stretches ,well worth popping into the creel (station road ,aldershot) to look at whats available
