Poledark - the mountain areas in the Eastern & Central US were settled almost exclusively by English folk. Until fairly recently (television and such) they were pretty well isolated as well so much of the language, songs, and customs didn't change much over many years.

 

There are still a few remote places in the Appalachian mountains of West Virginia and North Carolina and in the Ozark region of Arkansas and Missouri where you could drop an early 19th century Brit and he would feel right at home if he were a country man.
