hi all,

the canal near where i live is supposed to be fishing well for tench from 1lb - 4lb. What methods and baits can you suggest to specifically target them? Don't think sweetcorn does very well on the canal. Also the part where people are supposed to be catching them is only about 12ft wide and roughly 18 inches deep maybe 2ft. Very weedy as well. There is never anybody there for me to ask. Any help greatly appreciated.

thanks

Is there much flow? I would think that there probably wasn't. You could try a link ledger with worm. I used to have luck with this set up on a small lake that was weeded with much the same depth. Just be ready to strike. I used to use 1 BB and 1 swanshot as the ledger. A nice brandling gave it enough weight to get it out and down. I think that the tensh got wise to sweetcorn on the lake, hence I tried a couple of baits.

Good luck.
