Plus a small matter of an Angling Summitt Meeting that anglers didn't know about until after the event! Its posted on FishingMagic. Hope the CA kept its grubby nose out of our business. Good that it happened for all that. A positive step forward, I hope.

Peter, that should read: 'that not all anglers knew about' :)

Unlike the visit by Mr Fischler to London on 10th June to talk to 'stakeholders' of our marine fish stocks.

Apparently they didn't realise that anglers had any interest in fish stocks!! :(

They do now! :)

Some anglers will now be attending. :):)

Hi Leon, lovely day to be stuck in front of a computer!

Some Anglers or No Anglers? Anglers in general or the chosen few?

I'm always wary of such meetings that are publically announced AFTER rather than before the event. Just call it a suspicious nature. They sometimes become a means of slipping something in via the side door, or a means of keeping alternative opinion out. Past experience suggests that a suspicious nature is a nescessity in these matters. Would that it be otherwise!

Take care.

Or being dragged out to crawl round the M25 to visit distant friends! :(

I'd say that the anglers invited were the relevant representative of the main angling organisations.

If you were a Govt Minister wanting to talk to angling representatives, who would you invite?

These things are often arranged quite quickly, and are usually the result of a lot of previous hard work.

By the time the representative bodies inform constituent organisations, and they send out their quarterly newsletters - it's been and gone.

The press usually have little interest in reporting something which is going to happen.

You can't get much of a story out of 'Govt Minister to meet Angling Chiefs', well you have a headline, but no story to follow!

Unless it's a part of a continuing saga, they will wait to see what comes out of the meeting before reporting events.

Always be suspicious Peter, but if you really want to keep a finger on the pulse, you have to roll up your sleeves and help out with some of the hard slog.

'You'll have to roll up your sleaves & help', I do Leon, via NAFAC! And hopefully, when RSSG is more established & sorted, I shall be able to help at a Broadland level.

M25, move! You'll always be welcome in Broadland.

Er, I've been informed that the story was previewed in both AT & AM!!

In fact one kind angler sent me JPGs of articles concerning Martin Salter from AT (as requested in my original post - many thanks Paul) including the one with the story of the impending 'Angling Summit'.

Seems that another way of keeping one's finger on the pulse is to read the Angling Press!!

PS I'll be fishing in Norfolk sometime between the 1st - 8th August, if I can give Brenda the slip for a few hours :)

Peter Waller - news is printed in newspapers and angling has two AT and AM. If you want news you have to read one or 'tother. Or, do you expect a personal letter advising you of every move our leaders make on behalf of the sport?

Its your problem not ours.

As part of trying to keep abreast of developments in the angling world I buy most fishing publications what ever their colour or persuasion!

I may not be a specialist angler, matchman or clubman but I know I need to read, listen AND communicate.

Are you unhappy that the BIG meeting took place or that you weren't personally consulted if it should take place at all?
