It depends on what size perch you're after. As we've been discussing on other threads use a big lure if you want big perch. And by big I mean 3 to 5 inch lures such as are commomly used for pike! If you're after numbers of perch then smaller lues are a better bet.

In my experience the type of lure is not so inportant as the depth and speed you fish it at. Perch have a different swim bladder arrangement to most coarse fish and as a result can't change depth quickly without having to return to the original depth. It's therefore important to find the depth the perch are feeding at. As a broad generalisation, the brighter the underwater light the deeper the feeding perch will be.

As to speed, this very much depends on water temperature. The lower the temperature, the slower the retrieve is a good starting point, although as always don't be afraid to experiment.

Finally, and most importantly, don't forget to use a wire trace if there are pike in the water. Quite apart from losing lures, if a pike bites you off when you're using a lure with anything but one single hook it's very likely to be a dead pike.
