Fly fishing in Canada for Steelhead

Has anybody every fly fished for Steelhead or Atlantic Salmon in Canada? Me and the lads are trying to put a trip together for later in the year. Is it as good as it is made out to be?

As I understand it, one of the most successful baits for Steelhead (Rainbow), trout and salmon is fish eggs (spawn).

Its illegal in the UK to use spawn but over there its a highly effective method and bait. Spawn will rapidly deteriorate and needs careful handling and preparation but if done right using egg-spawn sacking material (cluster), you should do well.

 

Due to the legal issues and problems associated with the preparation of spawn, our Company LAGUNA FP LTD have developed what we believe to be the first synthetic version for use here in the UK. For obvious reasons I cannot mention it by name but hopefully you will know what I mean?

Canada - lots & lots of fertile water and not many anglers so at a guess, I'd say yes.

 

All the fishing I've done up there has been outstanding although none of it fly fishing.
