I always use size 18 hook to the margins, in still water you will always pick up Cruceans. using the top 3 of my pole, I have found that with maggot, if the Cruceans are there, you get a very shy bite and a lot of nosing the bait around. Change over to bread punch and it all changes, the bites become confident and the float glides away with no problems. Hope this helps.

Depends on the size of the punch.

I have one that has three heads for size 16, 18 and 20's.

Best fished along with a pinch of liquidised bread.

Chuck in a pinch and keep catching until bites dry up. Then put in another pinch.

this method is deadly for small roach in the winter on all venues.

If you cant get another bite after chucking in a pinch you now need to switch baits.

microwave the bread slices for 30 sec and roll it with milk bottle or simular tool put in plastic bag and seal(remove crust first)I use different thicknesses thin/medium/thick all according to what Im fishing for use fine wide gap hooks.

Or just pop it it the kettle steam before rolling, should be a bit more elastic after that.
