Perch............which rod?

Sorry, Tony, I can't remember - it was several years ago. However, whilst mine did have a through action, it was the tip that was the problem. For perch I'd always want a soft tip, like that on a float rod, to avoid the hook pulling out when they shake their head.

Interesting Steve!! I`ve had a Wilson rod from when they first came out and think the action has been improved no end. The original one was well sloppy compared to the new models which I really like. The current model has a wonderful bend in it and I don`t find it too stiff at all!!

I must admit Steve I like using a float rod for perch, most of my biggies have come on float fished small baits like red maggot, but I was thinking of a rod that could do everything reasonably well; live bait, ledger and float fish and and I always found that the JW suited the bill.

I obviously can't comment on the new version of the John Wilson Avon as I've never even seen it. Because I could find nothing suitable I had to design my own all-round perch rod, one that would cope with heavy casting weights as well as float fishing. Further details are on the thread referred to above.
